Main Street Idol 2012 Winners Announced!

The stage was set; smoke, lasers, lights, and lots of cheering fans.  There were no big name stars or well-known celebrity judges at the Main Street Idol 2012 finale, but you sure couldn’t tell by the sound of the appreciative fans.  The room was filled with anticipation as the audience listened to the finalists perform for the last time in this year’s competition.  They anxiously focused on the judges’ comments, and patiently waited for each contestant’s scores.  And on Saturday, January 28th Theatre on Main named it’s winners in the Main Street Idol 2012 vocal competition.

Pictured below are the winners from L-R:

Winners in the 9-13 year group were Ashlyn Denniston (1st), followed by Lauren Bird (2nd) and Emma Borkowski (3rd).

In the 14-18 year category top honors went to Emilie Thomas (1st), Meg Borkowski (3rd), and Jacqueline Boelkow (2nd).

Each age group was awarded scholarships in the amounts of $250, $100, and $50 respectively, as well as Main Street Idol 2012 trophies.

The evening’s host and emcee was none other than Stephen Uselman, winner of Watertown Idol, Jefferson County Idol, and the newly crowned the winner of the National online completion of “Just Let Me Sing.”  “I had so much fun doing this,” exclaimed Uselman.  “The talent and bravery of these kids is unbelievable.  Some of them are so young.  At their age, I don’t know if I could have done what they just did.  They deserve a lot of credit – they are all winners in my book.  And the crowd was fantastic – very supportive of the kids and this amazing event.  The community needs to attend this event – it means so much to the kids.”

As has now become tradition, Main Street Idol 2013 will once again take place the third and fourth weekends in January.  Mark your calendars so you don’t miss it!
